You don't need to, but understand that when you send an email it creates a support ticket and we reply through the support desk because it keeps track of the history of our communications.
When you register at the support desk (instead of just sending an email), that allows you to be able to login to see any replies made to your support tickets, particularly if your email provider is either delivering replies from the support desk to your junk/bulk/spam folder or filtering (blocking) the replies at their server.
